The Music of Thomas E Peterson

About This Website

This website is focused on the music created by Thomas (Tom). The larger majority of which has been recorded at home with an assortment of tools. They are various in types, allowing the capture of audio sounds produced by instruments and computer generated sounds alike. There are two exceptions to this. They are in collaborative efforts with others done remotely, where as the individual instrument tracks were supplied via email, then added to my own and mixed therein. The other being the album, "Frank Goes to the Zoo," was recorded at a music studio in Seattle, Washington.

The audio recording system is all run on a Linux based operating system (OS), its specifics are: Ubuntu Studio (OS), Ardour, a digital audio workstation, and several differing systems to replicate artificial sounds using Musical Instrument Digital Interface, (MIDI) (link to Wikipedia).

Thomas's music varies in genre rather than holding to a single style. Since music is about being creative, as a form of art, he likes to expressively explore that which was felt within, at the time of a song's origin. He has been a singer songwriter since the early 1970's and continues to this day. A majority of it could be placed in the contemporary folk music genre, yet there are musical gems unsuited for that slot. A long time listener to music of most types, allows the mind to take on ideas. It is recognized, at least by some, that ideas seem to come out of the universe rather than the self. This holds true in the musical world also. The idea for a piece of music can seemingly flow in from elsewhere, to become something that was previously not in existence. So it goes with Thomas's music. It is a hope, that you can enjoy it.
